Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how XOXO ("XOXO," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the XOXO app and website (together, the "Service"). Please read it alongside our Terms of Service. By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
The Service is meant for people who are 18 years old or older, or who have reached the age of legal majority where they live, whichever is higher. If you haven't reached that age, please don't use XOXO.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in three general ways: what you give us directly, what we observe as you use the Service, and what we receive from outside sources you've chosen to connect.
- Account details — your display name, profile photo, date of birth, and a way to reach you (email address or phone number), along with whatever sign-in method you choose, such as Apple or Google.
- Content you create — messages, photos, audio, and anything else you post or share inside rooms, plus any reports or feedback you send us.
- Activity and device data — things like app version, device model and operating system, crash and performance logs, and general patterns of use such as which rooms you join and for how long.
- Approximate location — we may estimate your general region from your IP address or network info to show you relevant rooms. Precise GPS location is only ever collected if you separately turn on a feature that needs it, and you can turn it off again at any time.
- Payment activity — if you buy anything in the app, the transaction is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We see that a purchase happened, but we never receive or store your card number or banking details.
2. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Create and run your account, and keep you signed in across sessions.
- Operate core features of the Service, like joining and hosting voice rooms.
- Keep the community safe — reviewing reports, detecting spam or abusive behavior, and enforcing our Terms.
- Understand how people use XOXO so we can fix problems and build better features.
- Send you service-related messages, such as security alerts or replies to support requests.
- Meet our legal obligations and protect the rights and safety of our users.
4. Data storage & transfer
Your information may be stored and processed on servers located in a different country than the one you live in. Wherever it's processed, we take reasonable steps to keep it protected to the standard described in this policy.
5. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards — such as encrypting data in transit and limiting who on our team can access it — to protect your information. That said, no online service can guarantee perfect security. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to log out of shared or public devices.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that's inaccurate or out of date.
- Delete your account and the personal information tied to it.
- Withdraw consent for optional data uses at any time.
You can manage most of this directly in the app's settings, or by emailing us at the address below. Note that some information is necessary for us to provide the Service, so withdrawing consent for that may limit what you're able to do in the app.
7. Cookies & similar technologies
Our website uses a small number of cookies to keep you logged in and to understand, at a basic level, how the site is used. We don't use cookies to track you across other websites or to serve targeted ads.
8. Children's privacy
XOXO isn't directed at, and isn't intended for use by, anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we'll close the account and delete the associated information. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below so we can remove it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page, and where a change is significant, we'll let you know inside the app. Continuing to use XOXO after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact us
If you have questions about this policy, or you'd like to exercise any of the rights described above, reach out and we'll get back to you.
